Review by hotel critic
As an architect, I'm drawn to destinations that blend history with modern design, and the Pigne hotel in a quaint Swiss village was no exception. Nestled perfectly near majestic mountains, the hotel offers an incredible view right from the balcony of my spacious room, which had enough seating to enjoy the scenery from various angles. What's pleasantly surprising is the value proposition here. The well-appointed rooms feature a mini-bar and electric kettle for convenience, alongside a flat-screen TV. Free Wi-Fi kept me well-connected, and the powerful shower was a much-needed comfort after long hikes. Breakfast, which included a variety of options suitable for hikers, was appreciated-everything from fresh fruits to muesli truly catered to energetic needs. The restaurant didn't disappoint either. Dinner included traditional Swiss dishes, and the service from the staff, especially Severine, was commendable. She made special arrangements for early breakfast that added a thoughtful touch. For those planning hiking adventures along the Haute Route, the proximity to trails and a bus stop is practical. All considered, while the Pigne leans towards luxury, the financial wisdom of choosing it is the excellent blend of comfort, amenities, and unpretentious hospitality.
